  • What time is it in Page, AZ and other FAQ's. Lake Powell Adventure Co. answers

Get answers to all your Lake Powell questions — tour options, durations, safety, what to bring, booking, and cancellation policies. Guided kayak tours from Page, AZ. Frequently Asked Questions Do you have questions? We have answers. Here are some frequently asked questions about our tours. If your question is not answered please reach out to us HERE. — GENERAL — Current time in Page, AZ What time is it in Page? Page operates on Arizona Time — and this is important to know! Arizona does not observe daylight savings time, but Utah and the Navajo Reservation do. If your cell phone is set to AUTO, it may pick up a Utah signal and show the wrong time. We strongly recommend setting your phone's time zone manually to Phoenix, AZ (PHX) rather than AUTO. March–October: Page time is the same as Pacific Time (PT). November–February: Page time is the same as Mountain Standard Time (MST). What is the Weather in Lake Powell and how does it effect my trip? Arizona weather can change quickly — the saying goes, "If you don't like the weather in Arizona, wait a minute!" Wind is the biggest factor for kayaking; choppy conditions make paddling more difficult and potentially unsafe. Our guides monitor forecasts closely before every tour. Our guides keep track of the weather and may make an inclement weather call prior to your trip. Any tour a guide cancels due to unsafe weather will receive a full-refund. For current wind conditions, we recommend checking WINDY. — THE TOURS — What tours does Lake Powell Adventure Company offer? Lake Powell Adventure Co. offers five experiences: the Antelope Canyon Kayak Tour (4-hour guided kayak and hike), the Antelope Canyon Boat and Photo Tour (2-hour motorboat tour), the Island Tour (4-hour family-friendly kayak tour), the Uplake Slot Canyon Adventure (5-6 hours), and Kayak Rentals. Private and school/group tours are also available. What is the Antelope Canyon Kayak Tour? The Antelope Canyon Kayak Tour is a 4-hour guided kayak experience through the stunning slot canyon walls of Lake Powell. Guests paddle approximately 5 miles round trip through the main channel and into the narrow canyon, followed by a 2-mile hike. This tour is more physically demanding and is best suited for active adults. All equipment is provided. What is the Antelope Canyon Boat and Photo Tour? The Antelope Canyon Boat and Photo Tour is a 2-hour motorboat tour designed for guests who want to experience and photograph the iconic canyon walls of Lake Powell without kayaking. This is a great option for photographers, guests with mobility limitations, or anyone short on time. It's one of our newest offerings and spots fill quickly. What is the Island Tour at Lake Powell? The Island Tour is a 4-hour guided kayak tour on the calm, flat waters of Lake Powell. It's our most family-friendly tour — perfect for beginners, children, and groups of mixed abilities. The paddling is relaxed, and the hikes can be adjusted to suit your group's fitness level. All equipment is provided. What is the Uplake Slot Canyon Tour? The Uplake Slot Canyon Tour is our most immersive experience, lasting 5–6 hours. Guests kayak further uplake to explore more remote slot canyons with fewer crowds. This tour is ideal for adventurers who want a longer, more in-depth exploration of Lake Powell's canyon landscape. All equipment is provided. Which Lake Powell tour is best for families with children? The Island Tour is our most family-friendly option. It features calm, flat water paddling, hikes and Rock Jumping that can be tailored to your group's age and experience level. Children regularly join us on this tour. For families with very young children or guests who prefer not to kayak, the Antelope Canyon Boat and Photo Tour is also a great choice. How far in advance should I book a Lake Powell tour? We recommend booking as early as possible. Tours have limited spots and fill up quickly, especially during peak season (spring and fall). Last-minute availability is rare. You can book online at any time, and remember: you can cancel for a full refund up to 48 hours before your tour date. What is the best time of year to visit Lake Powell for a kayak tour? Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures for kayaking at Lake Powell. Summers are very hot, with temperatures regularly exceeding 100°F. Winter tours are available in mild weather. Wind is a factor year-round — our guides monitor conditions closely and will cancel for safety if needed. Do you offer group rates or school tour packages? Yes! We welcome school groups, youth organizations, and large parties. Group pricing and custom scheduling are available. Please visit our School & Group Tours page or Private Kayak Tours Page or contact us directly to discuss your group's needs and availability. — SAFETY & WHAT TO BRING — What is provided on the kayak tours? All equipment needed for your tour is included: a double sit-on-top kayak, personal flotation device (PFD), dry box, dry bag, paddles, and seats. Splash pants are available upon request in cold weather. You'll also have a knowledgeable, ACA-certified local guide with you every step of the way. What should I bring on a Lake Powell kayak tour? Here's what we recommend bringing: at least 2 liters of drinking water per person, sturdy sandals or shoes that can get wet, clothing layers for sun protection or warmth, sunscreen, a sun shirt, sunglasses, a sun hat, SPF chapstick, snacks if you'd like, and a phone or camera (brought at your own risk). We provide a dry bag to keep valuables safe during the tour. Can I kayak at Lake Powell if I don't know how to swim? Yes! Swimming ability is not required. We provide high-quality, kayak-specific personal flotation devices (PFDs) for every guest. When properly worn, our PFDs will keep you afloat. Guests with no swimming experience join our tours regularly and have a wonderful time. Are your tour guides certified? Absolutely. Our guides are professionally certified through the American Canoe Association (ACA) in guiding and water safety. Every guide holds Wilderness First Aid, CPR, and Rescue training certifications. Lake Powell Adventure Company also holds a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) permit with Glen Canyon National Park Service, ensuring we operate to the highest safety and environmental standards. Is Lake Powell safe for kayaking? Yes. The Lake and canyon areas where we kayak are flat water and do not have rapids. Sometimes motorboats give a wake but nothing too serious. Our ACA-certified guides are trained in water safety and wilderness first aid, and they monitor weather conditions before and during every tour. We will cancel any tour due to unsafe conditions (wind, rain, flash floods) and issue a full refund. Where can I store my phone and valuables during the tour? Every tour includes a dry bag, which is kept in your kayak throughout the trip. Your phone, camera, keys, and other small valuables can be stored safely inside. We recommend bringing only what you need, as all items are brought at your own risk on the water. How strenuous are the Lake Powell kayak tours? It depends on the tour. The Island Tour is the most relaxed — flat water paddling, suitable for all fitness levels. The Antelope Canyon Kayak Tour is more demanding, with a 5-mile paddle (including open-channel water that can be choppy) and a 2-mile hike. The Uplake Slot Canyon Tour is the longest at 5–6 hours. If you have concerns about fitness, we're happy to help you choose the right tour — just reach out before booking. — BOOKING & POLICIES — What is your cancellation policy? We keep it simple: cancel anytime up to 48 hours before your tour for a full refund, no questions asked. If unsafe weather conditions (wind, rain, or flash floods) arise within that 48-hour window, our guides will make an inclement weather call and cancel your tour with a full refund. Your safety always comes first. Do guides accept tips or gratuities? Thank you for asking! Yes — gratuities are greatly appreciated by our guides. They work hard to make your experience memorable and safe, and tips are a wonderful way to show your appreciation. Do I need to pay to enter Glen Canyon National Recreation Area? Yes. There is a $30 entrance fee to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which provides 7 days of access to the park. Your National Parks Annual Pass (America the Beautiful Pass) is also accepted. For the most current fee information, visit the National Park Service website at nps.gov . What is the restroom situation during the tours? You will have an opportunity to use the restroom before your tour departs. Once on the water, there are no restroom facilities. Our guides follow all NPS and BLM regulations regarding waste on public lands, and we carry a backpacking waste system for emergencies. Is there a minimum age or weight requirement for the kayak tours? Not really, Please contact us directly to discuss your specific situation. We want to make sure every guest has a safe and enjoyable experience, and we're happy to help you determine which tour is the best fit for your group.

  • About The Area | Lake Powell Adventure Co.

Top-10 best things to do around Lake Powell!! Antelope Canyon Information, Information about Lake Powell, Kayaking Antelope Canyon, Lower Antelope Canyon, Upper Antelope Canyon, and the top things to do in Page, AZ and Lake Powell! Antelope Canyon Antelope Canyon is one of the most photographed slot-canyons in the world! The entire canyon is over 30 miles long, the majority is located on Navajo Reservation. Antelope Canyon consists of deep drainage-channels created by sandstone erosion due to wind & water. There are many slot-canyons to explore but the three most popular are : L owest Antelope Canyon (on Lake Powell), Lower Antelope Canyon, and Upper Antelope Canyon. Lower & Upper Canyon are accessible only by an authorized Navajo guided tour. Lowest Antelope Canyon is on Lake Powell in Glen Canyon Recreational Area. Kayak through the tall canyon walls until the water ends, then hike into twisty sandstone. This is the shallowest area of the canyon and not where the typical iconic photos come from (but is beautiful to see!). Lake Powell water levels effect accessibility. Lower Antelope Canyon is twisty, narrow and V-shaped so it doesn't matter what time of day you go! The light is always perfect! Upper Antelope Canyon is deeper and A-shaped so certain times of day are better than others. Sun directly above is preferred for pictures! Lake Powell is MASSIVE... 186 miles long. It's a reservoir on the Colorado River located in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. The lake is located in The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area which is public land managed by the National Park Service. The lake is popular for: boating, swimming, cliff jumping, beach-lounging, wake-surfing, fishing, camping, hiking, and exploring Glen Canyon National Recreation Area…. But we think it's best for kayaking! There is something life-affirming about gliding on the surface of the crystal clear waters. It makes you feel ALIVE! About Lake Powell Does the Lake Powell water level effect your tour? The lake is fed by the snow runoff from the Rocky Mountains, so lake levels fluctuate greatly as a result. While the lake levels make a kayak trip into Antelope CANYON more advanced... it makes an exploratory trip to Antelope ISLAND more interesting! You're seeing islands and rock structures that havn't been seen in over 50 years! Check out the Lake Powell Water level database!
